How to Use the Tempest 2
Loading the Bowl
Unscrew the cap and load by pressing into your ground material or using the straw method. Keep threads clean and avoid overpacking—light tamping ensures proper airflow. Carefully screw the cap back on, avoiding contact with steel surfaces to prevent residue buildup.
Heating with a Torch
Hold the flame tip approximately 1 cm (⅓ inch) from the cap and rotate slowly for even heating. Listen for the click indicator and avoid heating the visual indicators directly. Dual- or triple-flame torches deliver the best results.
Heating with an Induction Heater
Press the Wand’s main button twice to begin heating. Set around 290 °C (550 °F) for zirconia balls and wait for the “Time Over” signal. Adjust temperature or adapter depth to suit your preferences.
Debowling
Use the magnetic tool, leather case, or cap tool to safely remove and empty the bowl. Avoid touching hot metal components directly. Store the device in its case even if the cap is still warm.
Pro Tips for Best Performance
- Use long, slow draws while covering the air hole for most of the pull.
- Click discs may settle slightly during the first 10–30 sessions—this is normal.
- Move the torch closer to the air slots for earlier clicks and brighter flavor.
- For reheats, stop about one indicator mark earlier than the first cycle.
- Avoid heating the indicator area—it’s a reference point, not a heating target.
- Compatible induction heaters include the iSpire Wand and YLL IH 3.0.
